DVD writer speeds have increased over the past few years. While most thought that the magical 16x speed limit will never be breached, today's DVD writers can write to DVDs at greater speeds. The fastest DVD writer we got to test was the Sony Optiarc AD-7220S, which had a speed of 22x. But Sony Optiarc has now upped the ante and launched a new 24x DVD writer - the fastest in the world. And today, we have it with us at the Tech Labs; we are going to test it to see if it can maintain the write quality similar to that of its predecessor, despite having a higher burn speed.
Bundle
Considering the fact that this is an OEM drive, we didn't expect much of a bundle. In fact, when we opened the box, there was nothing inside apart from the drive and a CD of Nero 8 Essentials. There wasn't any SATA power or data cable or even fastening screws and you need to purchase them separately.
This drive is pretty bad as dvd reader. There is no way to get quality score above 30% with so high PI eroors and failures. A check with DVDinfopro will give accurate result.
I bought it for 1150 in Chandigarh, delaer was kind enough to give me sata power & data cable but was shrewd enough to say that it comes with no Nero CD/DVD.
